Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; This is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2024 with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if funds and/or program needs exist.

About the Position:
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) is committed to educating engineers and computer scientists who will graduate with state-of-the art knowledge in their chosen field and are ready to embark on careers in industry and government, or proceed to acquire advanced degrees in their own or related fields. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Graduate Admissions Associate Coordinator (Student Services Professional I-Range B). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
The Student Services Professional I-Range B provides support to the Dean, the Graduate and International Admissions office, and to other administrators as needed in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Evaluates academic records for the purpose of determining graduate and international admissibility to the university and ECS. Analyzes academic records to verify receipt of all transcripts, test scores, and other transferable credit, as well as completion of core requirements and institution accreditation. Scans, indexes, and updates CMS. Prepares files for evaluation. Oversees and assists with telephone and in person activities with applicants. Provides follow up correspondence to prospective graduate and international applicants. Informs prospective graduate and international applicants on admission and degree requirements. Creates and maintains accurate files for graduate and international applicants. Works with the International Programs and Extension and International Programs offices to monitor the admission and academic progress of graduate and, occasionally undergraduate, international students. Works collaboratively with department chairs, program coordinators, the Office of Graduate Studies, and other units on campus. Markets ECS programs and plans. Implements graduate recruitment activities. Assists with the coordination and set up of special events on and off campus. Provides general administrative support to the dean's office as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field plus one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Equivalent amounts of job-related, graduate level education may be substituted for the required experience. Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organization and program management. Working knowledge of research techniques, interview techniques, and the principles of individual and group behavior. Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations. Ability to present clear and concise information orally and in written reports. Ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures and activities and the overall organization. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as well as effective written and oral comprehension and expression skillet. Ability to learn, interpret independently, apply, and identify deviations from a variety of complex policies and procedures. Ability to work professionally and effectively with a variety of campus and community individuals requiring active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills. Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions. Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions. Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments. Ability to advise students individually and in groups.
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience with CMS. Experience evaluating academic transcripts and/or related admission documents for admission into collegiate level programs. Previous experience communicating detailed information to college level students. Knowledge of CSU or comparable university admission requirements and procedures.
