Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Part-Time Spanish-Speaking Admissions Counselor plays a key role in advancing the Purchase College's recruitment efforts, particularly within Spanish-speaking communities. This position supports institutional priorities by providing additional assistance to Hispanic and low-income students, helping to reduce systemic barriers to education. The counselor will lead admissions information sessions and appointments in Spanish, guide families through the admissions and financial aid processes, and build relationships with Hispanic-serving high schools and community-based organizations. These efforts will strengthen Purchase College's presence in the region, help local students access the educational opportunities available, and continue to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse student body that reflects the demographics of the broader community.

This position will work on average 22.5 hours a week.

Job Duties:
  • Conduct admissions information sessions in Spanish for prospective students and their families on campus and at local high schools.
  • Meet with parents and guardians virtually and in person to guide them through the admissions and financial aid processes.
  • Represent the college at recruitment events, high school visits, and college fairs, with a focus on Hispanic/Latino communities.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with community-based organizations that support the local Hispanic community to increase awareness of the college and its programs.
  • Assist in translating admissions and financial aid communications and materials into Spanish to ensure accessibility for Spanish-speaking families.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries from prospective students and families in a timely and professional manner.
  • Stay informed about the college's programs, admissions policies, and financial aid options to effectively communicate these to prospective students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Education/Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Fluent in both Spanish and English (written and spoken).
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse communities.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Reliable transportation for travel to local events
  6. Flexibility to travel locally and attend evening/weekend events as needed.

Preferred Education/Qualifications:
  1. Experience working with Hispanic/Latino communities and/or community-based organizations is a plus.
  2. Knowledge of the college admissions process and financial aid procedures is preferred.

The annual salary for this position will be $35,100
